My Story

Dedicated “Aging in Place” Designer and Consultant

I created The Better Way, LLC  to address the practical problems of aging faced in communities I served for 25 years as an Occupational Therapist. As a therapist, I evaluate how individuals live, manage and maneuver through spaces safely considering any need for adaptation or outside resources. This background provided insight into aging in place in the areas of space planning, environmental design, adaptation and ADA standards. The desire to create innovative design solution's and keep costs low, led me to pursue a degree in Interior Design, focusing on elderly environments in urban areas. Following a year of employment as a regional interior designer for a national healthcare company renovating assisted living facilities and independent living centers, I committed 10 years to design consultation freelance work for nonprofits, start up businesses, mid scale events and private residence which fueled a new passion for helping the community. As a result of these experiences, this company aims to create impactful environments for aging individuals at affordable prices. I recognized the impact of well designed environments combined with sufficient resources on aging individuals and am determined to provide these spaces of opportunity.
